Skye Café & Bistro, Regina, Saskatchewan
The dynamic husband and wife team of Chefs Milton Rebello and Louise Lu have named Skye Café & Bistro after their daughter who is “super proud of her restaurant”.
The dining room and the patio overlook Wascana Lake topped with the beautiful blue prairie Sky.
Although the menu of these award winning chefs is has a strong global influence they are fiercely proud of the local seasonal ingredients that have helped him make their mark on the food life of Saskatchewan. There’s no menu card – the daily menus are on black boards. There are house made breads and pastries, fair trade coffee, wines and beers that pair and complement the variety of dishes he creates daily. Bringing it even closer to home is the house made pottery on which he serves many of his dishes.
Never afraid to shy away from a challenge, Milton writes, “Our style of food is all about the experience, so (with Covid) we had to reinvent ourselves and create a product the would suit best for take out or easy to cook meal kit. As a busy family with young children, we were inspired to create meals that would be fresh, healthy, taste homemade & above all, great for all ages.”
Hence they invented a delicious array of Skye Artisan handpies They are all small batch production and range from savoury (butter chicken, local lentil & chickpea masala, roasted beat, corn and goat cheese) to sweet (summer berry, cherry bourbon).
Louise is also a very talented ceramic artist. Her travel mugs are one of a kind!
