Owners Leda and Tom Laborie built Taris on the Water armed with great enthusiasm and, dare we say, real vision. There could hardly be a niftier location right beside the magnificent iron Bridge #13 right beside the old Welland Canal. The location could hardly been better. “We couldn’t believe there were no restaurants directly on the canal and as the saying goes…..”necessity is the mother of invention”. We view the canal and bridge as one of Welland’s largest assets and our guests agree.”
The sweeping patio borders the old canal and is fabulous place to relax in the summer but in the winter this smart couple constructs a series of heated ‘igloos’….unique in the region. They are guests own private, perfectly heating dining rooms!
Chef Justin Upper is no stranger to Food Day Canada. He has been on the line with Gold Medal winning chef Anthony Greco. Justin’s food is approachable and absolutely delicious. He cures his own meats, makes much of his own pasta. The falafels are crisp and full of flavour…best ever in my books. His gnocchi are tiny nuggets as light as air. He makes a luscious duck confit cannelloni baked in a rich bechamel and has followed the current strong demand for more vegetarian and vegan selections.Taris-FoodDayCanada-Menu
