Ossie’s Lunch is famous. Rose Anna Waite, who is now closing in on her mid-70′s, and her daughter, Angela Tessier, serve Maritime road food at its best — deep-fried clams, lobster rolls, scallops and chips and home made pies, in particular rhubarb custard and New Brunswick blueberry. The clams are from Charlotte County, just down the road; the lobster is from Shediac and the scallops are from Grand Manan. The rhubarb for the rhubarb custard pie comes from the milk man’s mother — he delivers it with their milk order.
A diner and a truck stop, the sparkling white building is ringed with picnic tables. You place your order, get your ticket and the number is announced over a loud speaker when it’s ready. Go early as there are days when the wait can be two hours long.
