With Canada Day being my favourite day of the year, it was only natural to want to celebrate it twice 🙂 My wife and I have, over the past couple years, searched out our local meat suppliers in an effort to further our purchases from local businesses; not only have we found it competitively priced but the quality and options really surpassed our expectations!

Our recently discovered pork and Champagne Shallot Mustard Sauce basted on a slow cooked Smoked Pork Steak has quickly become a favourite around here, and besides being super easy, it continues to earn us high praise among our fellow BBQ’ers. Some lightly oiled and salted roasted peppers, mushrooms, etc. make a fantastic side.

And it wouldn’t be a great Canadian BBQ without some local micro brews suds, and I’d say a good wheat beer is both refreshing and the right palette for our pork. Our local Muskoka Lakes Cottage Brewery has just what we need in its Muskoka Hefe-Weissbier!
