We met when you were book signing at Janice Beaton’s shoppe, and I am excited to participate in this amazing venture!
My husband Derrek, and our two children, Davis (12) and Gillian (10), will be flying from Calgary to my home town of Halifax, for a two week visit to PEI and NS. My sister is hosting a family barbecue at her home by the lake and we are all contributing. My brother and his partner will come from Maugerville, NB, as well as our Halifax relatives.
While we are finalizing the menu, here it is so far.
We will bring Alberta venison (harvested by my son and husband) and Queen Charlotte Islands salmon (caught by my son.) We will bring local Brassica mustard, Alberta’s Valta bison and some lovely local cheeses and Lesley Stowe’s crackers.
The Halifax crowd will provide salads of local vegetables, (including tomatoes, potatoes, peas, and beans), and fresh pasta with homemade pesto .
Their local raspberries are begging for a pie or trifle, to end our repast.
We are looking at Jost’s habitat blanc, and are also checking out a local red wine, and local micro brewery beer.
