We currently live on a 49 acre farm in Alma. We enjoy barbequing meats and vegetables on a regular basis. If we were to have a BBQ party we would invite our family, friends and neighbours to come over for a feast.
Our menu would include steak, shish kabobs, and chicken. For the sides we would have corn on the cob basted with butter in tin foil on the BBQ and roasted potatoes. We would also BBQ a stirfry of green peppers, mushrooms, onions and snow peas as an option for those guests that are vegetarians. Our meat would be purchased from local farmers in our area. We have several people who are farmers who live near us who sell ontario raised meat. We would purchase our corn from a local mennonite farmer from our Farmer’s Market. The green peppers, mushrooms, onions and snow peas would be purchased by a local farmer just toward Florapine or a local farmer at the Farmer’s Market. We would harvest the potatoes from our own garden in our backyard.
For dessert we would make on the BBQ a recipe we found on a package of Kraft marshmallows. It is called Crowd-Pleasing Peanut Butter S’mores. We would make sure the peanut butter we would buy is from Picard’s Peanuts in St. Jacob’s who locally grow their own peanuts here in Ontario that you can make into peanut butter.
For drinks we would make strawberry smoothies (or whatever fruits are in season) by using our Bullet mixer and we would use berries that we picked fresh from a local Pick Your Own farm near Fergus.
