Best of CAMA 2019

In the words of Christina FitzGibbon, the Past President of Ontario’s CAMA (Canadian Agri-Marketing Association), the Gala Awards dinner was an “opportunity to applaud our industry and its shining professionals.” 

For Food Day Canada, even being shortlisted in a field of over 300 agricultural-focused entries was a serious honour.  But to be selected to receive two awards by some of the country’s most involved and well known agricultural communicators was pretty close to breath-taking.  

We were selected as the Gold Award winner for the Category, Social Media Campaign Directed at the General Public and for Silver in the Category, Company or Producer-funded Public Relations Campaign Directed at the General Public.  

Anyone who reads our website and participates in Food Day every year is very aware of how we depend upon Social Media, from our regular Twitter and Facebook posts to our Instagram takeovers by chefs and restaurants across the nation.  It’s always been a labour of love and profound pride.

Many, many thanks to all our Social Media Team, to the Arrell Food Institute for sharing its super-talented student base with us and to Len Kahn of Kahntact Marketing, Crystal Mackay of Loft 32 , Gretha Rose and to all the others – Julie, Anna, Colleen, Andrew, Dean, Arvinder, Cara, Cindy, Cassandra. There are so many!  They have all enabled Food Day Canada to trend annually and blow up the internet.

As Linus MacDonald, our lighting consultant, writes….”2019 was just a dress rehearsal.”   The map below illustrates all 25 locations that were illuminated on August 3rd. 

We can hardly wait till next year!
