When Relais Gourmande veterans, Chef Rod Butters and business partner Audrey Surrao, launched RauDZ Regional Table in Kelowna, it was clear that the city was ready for such a culinary experience. They had come from the coast of Vancouver Island and the extraordinary Wickaninnish Inn where between them, they set the standard of fine dining and local harvesting that still flourishes.
Over the years Rod, with his great friend Chef Bernard Casavant have truly helped to define British Columbia cuisine. Rod is one of the most inspired and creative chefs we have in Canada.
Now, in an attempt to step back and write a rather long-awaited cookbook, Rod and Audrey have handed the RauDZ reins to Chef Brock Bowes. Like Rod, Bowes worked under the master – Chef Bernard Casavant at Fairmont Chateau Whistler and then at Chef Bernard’s own Café and later, with him, at Burrowing Owl Winery Restaurant in the south Okanagan and at Kelowna’s Manteo Resort. Bowes will be joined in the kitchen with Chef de Cuisine Robyn Sigurdson, and in a culinary twist of fate, this will be the third time this duo has worked side by side.
Although the banquettes are elegant, the best seat in the house is at the long communal table with a full view of the action in the kitchen.
