For newly minted Red Seal Chef Nate Catto, the Harbour House is a recipe to stretch his culinary imagination. The garden is a work of art, to a point where they now have a stall at the Salt Spring Farmers Market every Saturday.
Both honey and big leaf maple syrup is produced on the property – just for the use of the kitchen and an array of fresh seafood is constantly available.
The inn is situated at the head of Ganges Harbour and has been an island tradition for decades. The micro climate is one that’s the envy of Canada…enough rain, enough sun, early spring, nearly non-existent winter. The notion of living and working on this magical island has drawn many to its shores from David Wood who makes some of the best cheese in the nation to
garden guru Michael Abelman who left California and writes and gives workshops on sustainable agriculture at Foxglove Farm. Dan Jason has had his seed library there for decades and the apples of Salt Spring are heritage and legendary.
