When our own James Chatto chooses Earth as One of Toronto’s Top 10 New Restaurants, I listen. Casual cousin to Globe Bistro, Earth brought new life to 1055 Yonge Street, which housed 8 different restaurants in 10 years. No coincidence that it’s flourishing- owner Ed Ho knows what he’s doing. Bringing Globe’s “Think local. Eat local” philosophy to Rosedale, and now to their new location on Bloor West, Earth is stepping out of the shadow and holding their own.
Earth Bloor West inhabits a massive 18,000 square foot space as well as a rooftop patio/garden where fresh herbs and produce are grown. New Executive Chef Dan Sanders served as Globe’s Chef de Cuisine for 4 years to the restaurant trio and was vital to Earth’s development. He brings with him a resume of diverse culinary experiences in Canada and abroad that both added to and cemented his mission to cook good, fresh food, while minimizing its farm-to-fork distance. Amen. We’re thrilled to have both Earth Rosedale and Earth Bloor West part of Food Day again this year!
