Araxi Executive Chef James Walt should be very proud. This year marks another consecutive Gold win for Araxi’s decade-plus legacy as Vancouver Magazine Awards’ Best Whistler Restaurant. This is a first for the award and a testament to both Walt’s talent and leadership and his award-winning brigade.

Araxi is Gold for a reason.  It takes its inspiration from the producers of the Pemberton valley in which it’s so firmly planted and from the fishermen of the Pacific Ocean.  As a ski-writer friend of mine who lives in Whistler says: “What awards haven’t they won?  It’s impossible to be disappointed.”

In 2012, Araxi earned a Gold Wine List Award at the Vancouver Playhouse International Wine Festival, as well as Best Whistler Restaurant at the Georgia Straight Golden Plate Awards. And this year, Araxi Wine Director Samantha Rahn won the Vancouver International Wine Festival’s 2013 Sommelier of the Year Award. Nominated from the top sommeliers in British Columbia and Alberta, and voted on by a wide cross-section of industry professionals, the award represents the highest level of achievement in Western Canada.
